Where the savannah meets the skyline.
Nairobi National Park is truly unique—the only place on earth where you can photograph a free-roaming lion against a backdrop of towering city skyscrapers. It’s a surreal, accessible, and genuine wildlife experience located just 20 to 30 minutes from the city center.
At MeryTrek tours and Safaris, we believe that even a short safari should be done right. That is why this tour exclusively utilizes a customized 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser Safari Jeep.
While many operators use standard safari vans, our 4x4 Jeeps offer significant advantages in Nairobi National Park:
Superior Comfort: The rugged suspension handles the park's off-road tracks much better than a van.
All-Weather Access: When it rains, the park gets muddy. Our 4x4s can reach areas vans get stuck, ensuring your game drive isn't cut short by weather.
Better Viewing Angles: Being higher off the ground gives you a better vantage point for spotting wildlife in tall grass.
In just a few hours, you have excellent chances of spotting the endangered black rhino (it's one of Kenya's best sanctuaries), lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes, and zebras.
6:00 AM – 6:30 AM: Pick-up Your professional Yuda Lions driver-guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence, or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in your private 4x4 Jeep. The early start is crucial to catch the nocturnal animals before they retreat from the rising sun.
6:45 AM: Arrival & Entry We arrive at the park gate. Your guide will assist with the entry process (see important notes on park fees below). As soon as the roof pops up, the adventure begins.
7:00 AM – 10:30 AM: The 4x4 Game Drive We dive into the park's diverse habitats. Because you are in a powerful 4x4, your guide can navigate the deeper circuits of the park with ease.
The Search: We will spend the early hours scanning the plains for hunting cheetahs and lions returning from their night activities.
The Rhino Hunt: We will actively track the magnificent Black and White Rhinos, often seen grazing near the forest edges.
Key Sites: We will visit the Athi River dams seeking hippos and crocodiles, drive through the acacia forests looking for leopards, and stop at the historic Ivory Burning Site monument.
11:00 AM: Exit and Drop-off With memory cards full of photos, we exit the park and drop you back at your hotel or the airport in time for lunch or your onward flight.
